Wisdom Teeth Removal

service01

Wisdom teeth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove wisdom teeth- the third set of molars that most people get in their late teens or early twenties. Wisdom tooth extraction is done if a wisdom tooth doesn’t have space to grow, resulting in pain, infection, or other problems.

Impacted wisdom teeth may show up partially or not at all. An impacted Wisdom tooth may:

  • Grow at an angle towards the next tooth.
  • Grow at an angle towards the back of the mouth.
  • Grow at a right angle to the other teeth.
  • Grow straight like other teeth but stay trapped within the jawbone.

Procedure for removal of wisdom tooth

  • Making an incision in the gum tissue to expose the tooth.
  • Removing bone that blocks access to the tooth.
  • Removing the tooth (dividing the tooth into sections if it’s easier to remove in pieces).
  • Cleaning the site of the removed tooth for debris from tooth or bone.
  • Stitching the wound close (this is not always necessary).
  • Placing gauze over the extraction site to control bleeding and help to form a blood clot.
